Got my new valve seat for my wastegate. I have it off the car but I am having the same problem. I must be doing something wrong. I have pictures that you guys can look at to see if I am messing it up. Wastegates should be a straight forward install, but not for me.

Ok. Here's my wastegate with custom dump tube, and valve seat next to it.

The lip around the inner flange of the wastgate is what the valve seat is stuck on.
It sits on this lip and will not depress no matter how tight I tighten the bolts.

So Do I install it like this? If you can see where the valve seat isnt sitting flush with the flange. Its raised a few millimeters. This is whats causing the wastegate not to bolt up flush to the manifold.

Or Is this the way to install it. Even this way the valve seat is still in the way of hitting the manifold. I dont think this is the right way, but I am not sure of that.

Sorry for the long post with all the random pictures. Thanks for taking a look though!

The second to last pic is correct. The seat needs to fit into the step, make sure there are no burrs, carbon, etc or it might not fit. Its made in china an the QC isn't the best so you might need to file alittle to get it to fit.

I think the ring on the valve seat keeps hitting the lip on the flange and it will not depress into the wastegate for a flush fit. I hope Its not a 35mm wastegate and a 38mm valve seat

you want the part of the ring with the step in it to be up in the waste gate so when you tighten the flange down its all flush, so the first pic is correct. if you put it the other way with the step facing out, it will leak like crazy!

The ring is too big. I took apart the wastegate and pulled the big spring out of it and the diaphram moves with no effort. I then put the ring in and its still resting on that lip, even with the diaphram completly depressed. Tommorow I am going to bore out that lip so the valve seat can slide in. Dremel it out I think a few mm to get it to seat correctly.
