pick up a phone, grab a phone book, and call around. It'll save you time and gas money.

might as well, even though last time I called some of those places it seemed they had never heard of a VW

I doubt you'll find anything in stock today.... you could just buy a cheap cone filter and bolt it on to your maf, thats about all you can do if you want something for tonight.

When I ordered mine through Advance it took a few days to come in.

thanks, I never knew how crappy K&N really is.. sucked in by marketing.. I'll be switching back to oem on the legacy.

word . . . . AFE is actually a pretty good oiled filter . . . . better construction than K&N, close-to-paper filtration, better cotton material, and won't disintergrate after a few cleanings.

there was a recent UOA on BITOG where the owner ran a K&N for the duration of his OCI. Wear metals increased substantially (upper cylinder scoring) + the silicon levels were much higher than with the paper filter (indication of sand/dust). Needless to say that the owner switched back to a paper filter.

While the reduced resistance to initial flow of the K&N is nice (increased throttle response), I personally wouldn't sacrifice filtering ability which might lead to degradation in cylinder compression over time as well as increased blow-by.
