help on a part # please!?!

heres the dilemma, i went to VW and tried to get a stock Audi TT short shift, and the parts guy said that there are 2 different ones. Supposidly the 2001 and older is one, and 2002 and up is another. Does anyone happen to know what one i would need for a 2002 1.8t jetta?

A quick educated GUESS. I am guessing that 2001 and before TTs only had 5speeds and at 2002 they switched to the 6 speed box. Assuming you have the 5speed, the 2001 and before unit would be the one to choose.

In any case, I will check my ETKA to see if I can figure anything further out and will post back with my findings.

From ETKA I have two part numbers for the 5speed...

8N0 711 051
8N0 711 051 A

Could just be a revision number difference... ETKA had no other info

For FWD 6speeds there are two unique part numbers:
8N0 711 051 B
1J0 711 051 C

I'm not that great with the ETKA and could not gleam any info on the different parts number listedd for the 6speed.
