Let me try and re-word that in VW speak.... it would be like reworking CIS to run a 1.8T!

The VAD Mobile set-up is what in have in the GTI (with a Palm Tungsten for display and logging data) and it is also what I have on my Palm Centro cell.

VAD has recently announced they have ported thier SW to Windows Mobile platforms http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4211389 so they have moved up from CIS to Motronic!

In any case, I like it becuase with the window mount, I can display data realtime from a measureing block while driving (nice to be able to monitor A/F, Coolant temp, intake temp or whatever at a glance while you are driving). It also does data logging to. The user interface is fair - I have found it a little bit buggy though. It is pretty easy to check and clear codes with it as well.

VAG-COM is much more robust IMHO and best for doing things like re-coding modules, checking for fault codes, and it is good at data logging too and has excellent documentation and support.

If interested, I would consider selling my Palm Centro/VAD Mobile set-up (complete with cable etc).

I use the VAD Mobile on a Palm Tungsten mounted in the GTI. I have a additional full VAD mobile set-up on the Plam Centro cell phone I have.
