wiping out mk3 driver airbag???

i dont trust them.

i want to put my own wheel in my VR,
how can i go about disabling the air bag system to replace the wheel?

unplug the battery, touch the terminals together to discharge any capacitance left in the system. Really though just loosen the two allen screws on the wheel and pull the bag off and the wire out. I do it all the time on them, no big deal.

Not too clear on what you're asking; Are you wanting to run a non-airbag wheel? Or just replace the stock steering wheel with another airbag wheel?

probly after market wheel. i have a corrado wheel in my mk3, no airbag and its sexy looking. my airbag controller is also in a bucket of parts in my attic :rofl:

You can use a resistor to disable the light, if you want to keep the pass airbag. If not then just pull the whole controller etc.. and call it a day, then get an upper glove box :icon_cool:
