Goshdarn Blaupunkt 6-CD Changer!

Help me out here:

I get nothing but "CD Error" ever since the last time I changed CDs in my changer (99.5 mk4 Golf, fwiw). Before that, it was only reading one CD out of the six. How do I get it to work again? I've never used one of those "CD player lens cleaner" things in a changer before, only 1-disc at a time operations. I need non-radio music! Help!

Is this a cartridge style changer (load discs into the cart then stuff it into the changer)? Have you checked to make sure the discs/cartridge are inserted properly? Laser cleaning things don't really do much as the best way to clean the lense is with a q-tip, a gentle touch, and some glass cleaner. You can try gentely blowing the mechanisim out with compressed air to see if that helps.

That's exactly what I thought. I looked at the cartridge, and it said to place the CDs in there label side "up." So, they're all in there label side up and it still says CD error. I'm thinking maybe the first of the CDs is bad, and it's not going past that? I'll take it out and re-check tonight after work...

And as far as the lens goes, do you have any idea where it is on this thing? I'd like to clean it, as I've had the car for over two years now and have yet to do so.

Yes, it's the cartridge style player where you put 6 CDs into the cartridge, then the cartridge goes one-way-only into the player...

You would probably need to yank the changer out and take its outer cover off at a minimum to get at the lens. Are any/all of the discs CD-Rs... some older players can have problems reading them.
