Alright, some of you may know, but I picked up a nice T3/T4 turbo, its a 50 trim with a .48 a/r. Some of you have told me to go with a .63 a/r, and some of you have told me that the .48 a/r is all right. But what I want to know is the pros vs. cons of these two, and what whp/wtq possibilities I have, and what I'll be able to do with both. Feel free to go comment crazy!

In my personal opinion which you didnt ask for, the .63 A/r turbine is waaayyy to big, it doesnt get full boost till like 5k or 5.5K rpms and your just sitting there forever waiting to get into boost. I think that the .48 is perfect, you get fast boost and a really nice powerband...... If you like a nice streetable turbo car and you like to pass people without downshifting, you go with the .48 a/r and if your looking for good quarter mile times and high hp numbers go with the .63 a/r... I have built and driven both. I also think that too many people over-turbo their cars but it really is a matter of personal preference.

more or less, thats what i told him

you should see close to 300 if not 300hp with that and the rest of the bolt ons.

I would like to end up with mid 300whp

You'll have more mid range with the .48 as it'll spool quicker, and would be my suggestion. Vin's got my old .48 T3/T4e and put down an unrefined
320ish whp.

Alot of it is preference. For mid 300s it won't really make a difference in you making your goal. I'm on the other side of fence. If you have the .48 already give it a try.

A .63 will give you better topend power but slower spool up. A .63 stage 1 is not a really big exhaust side and won't be that laggy. I ran a .63 with a stage III wheel and a larger compressor than this one on a 1.8 8V and still had a good 3k on up power band. I would rather have later spool for traction purposes and top end pull. I did build the car to go fast and run the 1/4 mile but I would still choose the .63.

it is actually a .60 a/r 50 trim with a stage 5 wheel. It starts to hit pretty hard at about 3200 and keeps going all the way to redline.

exhaust side Vin, not cold side.

I think you have a mix of specs there. Stage 5 indicates a exhaust trim but the 50 trim and 60 A/R are TO4E compressor/wheel sizes.

I use a .63 a/r. I like it on the highway. If you plan on mid 300whp than you will need to do rods, especially with a .48 a/r only because of torque spike. .63 a/r will give you a little less stress on the rods.

The .63 a/r will give you full boost by 4200-4600 depending on what gear you are in. The perfect way to test is doing a 4th gear pull at 40mph.
