Need to VAG-COM it again to disable ABS. Apparently this can be done by changing some CAN-BUS number on the ABS controller to 0000000. Who wants to help? I plan to drive out to Burdick tonight to pick up some fuel lines, so if we could do it today, that would be great, yeah... I will buy beer, wine, or liquor if so desired. I'll even show you how to jump over your own foot if you consider this knowledge of tradable value!

Of course the whole reason for this is so that I don't have my ABS light (on since I got the car) and flashing brake light (on since replacing front disks) lighting up everytime I drive. It also makes a really annoying "Beep! Beep! Beep!" when I start to move. I've tried removing the sensors, but to no avail. This car has been driven in Upstate New York every winter since 1999, so you can imagine the rust issues...

I know I can just remove the fuse, but I don't want to disable the front/back proportioning that the mkIV ABS controller takes care of. You have to replace the rear pads often enough even when it's workign properly...

Lite... I just got back from a long road trip and can't help you out today, but tomorrow @ the TNGTG I can bring my VAG and take care of that for you.

When you got new pads, did they have the sensor on them, if a garage did them an put pads on that don't have the sensor on them then all the brake lights would be messing up like you describe... pop the driver's side wheel off an check if there is a wire coming off the inside pad going into a plug behind the caliper

I have a 99.5, so I don't have that sensor, and I don't have that light in my guage cluster, either, but thanks for the input!
