I need to change transmissions in my rabbit and was wondering if anybody wanted to make a day of it.I may have a lift avalable but not sure.I have never tried it before so somebody with a little knowledge would be a big help.I would also like to rebuild the shifter while we are there.I have a garage at home but its very full and tight and i do not have a big selection of tools.Any help would be great and very appriciated.I just want to drive this thing.I am going to try and make it to the show in caz this weekend so maybe i can meet a few people.

I'd come and help but it's a bit for for me :)
MK1 trannies are the easiest to change...the only special tool you need is the "triple square" for the axle shafts which can be found at pep boys or something usually.
Other than that you don't really need a lift, just take everything off and jack the engine up to slide off the trans...are you doin a clutch or anything as well?

It's not a hard job... I'd love to help, but family & racing has me tied up for the next several weekends.
