I'm the suck for waiting so long to do this work... but really, what could've gone wrong??

I decided to replace the motor mounts on the CQ before the rallyx this saturday. I started last night by swapping a tranny mount (the other side is above the exhaust, so I'm gonna wait to get to that)... but I got further along tonight and got both of the motor mounts out. The driver's side was tricky to get to, but since it came out in two pieces it wasn't too hard...

The pass. side is the problem and the source of my dire request to anybody that might possibly have a pass. side motor mount bracket!! That came out in 3 pieces!

So, what's left of the lower front bolt is in the block (about to go drill and extract) and the other two bolts are still there with the remaining two pieces of the bracket. The part # is 893 199 308 B and I'm hoping to all hope that it's the same on the 5cyl. 80's & 90's... and that somebody out there has one laying around!

If it's CQ specific, then I'm screwed. If not, then maybe somebody would hunt for one for me tomorrow so I could make my race Sat. morning. I know it's a long-shot, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I'm gonna go look up the pn on ETKA to see what else it can be found on.

help... :frown:

I can check with my friend in RI....I'm quite sure he has multiples but I doubt that helps for the time frame you need it in.

there are multiple 5 cyl's in the east syracuse yard. maybe I can get out there tomorrow and have a look. I think only 1 in Bingo and it was a 5000, not sure those are the same.

thanks guyz!

Jay - that would be great if possible! The 5000's won't work. but Q or non-Q 5 cyl's on the 80/90 model will work ('88-'92). 4 cyl's won't work. Also, I called you last night, Jay... so you should have my # now. if not lmk. I can leave work around 2:30 today, so worst case I'll head out there myself and hope for the best. I will be calling the yards in an hour or so to see what they have in stock. Hopefully one of them has it.

man am I stoopid for thinking it would be an easy job...

Whoa that sucks... judging from the oxidation it's been like that quite awhile.

man am I stoopid for thinking it would be an easy job...

Nah, you're just optimistic

In reality your working on a vw/audi product... (or you told your wife "it'll only take 15 mins...") either way you've delegated yourself to Todd time as I like to call it, where time speeds up for everyone but you...

I've got a pass side motor mount off a vw mk2, but I don't think that will work.

Yeah the long. engines have a diff. mounting set-up... the mk2 bracket won't work.

Dave, I'm prolly gonna hit you up for a wrenching hand tonight if I get this bracket! I also still have to replace the fan switch. I'm gonna call around now and see what I can find.

ok... can get from the dealer @ $131! (3 days delivery)

Shokan has it for $35, but they will only ship it! no store front at all. :frown:

Pierce... no 80's or 90's

E. Syr.... They said they didn't have any (they didn't convince me tho)

Auburn... doesn't track cars older than 1996!

Gary's... maybe. don't keep track but do have older audi's... he said he thinks they have a 90

Don's... no.

Horseheads... none.

I also called Shade Tree & AJ Foreign here in town... no go.

I'm gonna head down to Gary's and look. If no go then I'll head up to Auburn... then E. Syr. if no there.

all packed and ready to run! It runs SSSOOOOOOOOOO much smoother now! I can't wait to get on it with no drivetrain vibrations. I only have one more tranny mount to do and all 7 points will be new.

I'll get some video and pics... this is gonna be a blast!

Thanks to Rich for the ETKA help!

Jake's a sucka for not coming over to say hi or help! I guess my yelling didn't get your attention.

Bummed I didn't get to see Brent or Jay.

WOW! Everybody's gotta do a rallycross at least once in their life... that was frigg'n awesome! Unfortunately, my day was cut a little short (by 2 runs) as I blew a brake hardline in the rear. But I had sooooooooooo much fun and was able to limp home. I've got some pics and I'll post them and some more info on the event thread in lil' bit.

bummer bout' miss'n jake! I would have been out quicker if that frigg'n bolt cooperated. It took me dam near an hour to get that one bolt out.
