I have this idea,
Since I will be maxing out my 36lb injectors with c2 OBDI tune at 15psi, and there is no 42lb tune for the OBDI coilpack cars, I was wondering if I could use an FMU to up the fuel pressure so I could up the boost. I would connect the boost signal line on the FMU to a spare boost controller and set it to 14 or 15 psi, so the FMU wouldn't even come into play during low and mid boost situations, only when its needed at high end.
What you think? Its an inexpensive alternative, to either stand alone, or adding some secondary injectors

do you have a wideband? are you going lean over 15psi with your current setup?
its a pretty interesting idea, if you have a wideband I'd say go for it. can you watch timing on obd1 with vag-com?

why not just throw a 4 bar FPR in with them. they did do one 42lb obd1 setup on Matt(moles) old car from 20squared tuning, i'm sure the could do another.

I can monitor timing with vag-com even with OBDI which is really nice, I need a wideband to get everything dialed in though, especially pushing the setup as is.
I would use a 4.0 bar fpr which I have laying around here, but it runs pretty rich at idle and part throttle with the 3.0 bar, so I am not sure how it would go with more fuel down low too

I was kind of wondering about that myself, I was also thinking about just throwing in bigger injectors and a bigger MAF while keeping just the 42# software, because the bigger MAF should compensate for the biger injectors its just a matter of matching them up right, even still, its just an idea so not really sure how any of this would work. I kinda folded to the idea of getting the 60# setup custom made, just so I know it will run good. But Im all for trying new things for sure, it would be interesting to see what happens

meh in both of your cases I would save up for standalone of some sort.
Without the ability to tune with a MAP sensor running a boosted car is pretty dicey imho....I know it can be done but it is pretty painful....
Another option is to use some sort of piggyback like a split second controller I know pete had one for a while which basically piggybacked on the MAF signal and adjusted it with boost....could work with bigger injectors and MAF on the C2 program...

The only success I had with the piggy back was cleaning up the idle, everything else was rough. really rough. I would consider an extra injector controller before getting a piggy back like the split second PSC-001 I used.
IMO: Get a wideband and push the limits of the 36# setup for now. If I made 350 with the 32# setup at 15psi, i would think you can push it beyond that and get close to 400. Beyond that I would look into a custom tune from C2 or go stand alone. I'll be running megasquirt on my rabbit if you want to check it out some time :icon_tup:
