I just got a Turbonetics turbo, now I am hearing how they are garbage and blow oil seals all the time. What are your opinions on turbonetics turbochargers. The one in question is a T04E-60 water cooled. I have a cheap ebay turbo on the car now and it's been fine, so I guess this would be an upgrade none the less.
Also I got a stage2+ spec clutch which I am hearing are trash too. Keep in mind this is all coming from Vortex so I am not sure how reliable this information is.

Who is telling you that? turbonetics has been around for years and used to used Garret cartiges until they started making their own. They have been the first in the industry to do many thing like introduce large shaft turbos and have their own version of the ball bearing that won't fail from side load. they also offer a lot of custom sized stuff that Garret won't, like the T3 super sixty. I think they are a step above Precision as far as turbo's go and pretty much on par with garret, they are certainly no SS autochrome. as for the spec I have heard both good and bad about them, so its kinda a risk on how you fair with their stuff.

thanks for the info! People on vortex are complaining mainly about oil seals blowing, I doubt they are running restrictors. I am not running a restricor either, but I am running a small diameter oil line which was advertised as restricting enough oil flow to prevent blown oil seals. I am sort of crossing my fingers with this spec clutch. What sort of break in period can I expect from a performance clutch?

200 miles is what most clutch break ins require.... some people break clutches in hard... me included... I bring it up soft a few times then just forget aout it....
tnetics are awsome... I would run one in a second if I didnt already have a garret...
also look at how many precision turbo's have oil seals go!!! lots

Brent, are you running a 3" downpipe with your turbo? If so i'd like to know where you got that flange and if you can run a 3" flange on a 2.5" discharge
