I just bought a Toureg MFD2 RNS DVD navi for my W8 and would appreciate any suggestions on getting the right wiring harnesses together. I've currently got a MFD Model G navi and am not sure what parts of the wiring are still usable.
I realize that the center console will need to be remodelled but that does not worry me as much as the electronics.
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA,
Tom

If you still need help, you can try the Bentley online "Repair Manual Web Subscription" thing for 3 days, $20. You might be able to figure out the wiring from that. Just save/print the wiring for both systems, might be a pain to find it all, but it should be online.

The wiring diagrams I have since they are printed on the Navi. It's the Tyco connectors that I need to figure out on the back of the Navis and whether or not I need a CAn BUS emmulator or not.

It's done and I'm so excited. Previously there was a MFD "G" installed into my '04 W8.
It was strictly plug 'n' play but obvious at first (see below). Either the previous owner installed a CANBUS or a US W8 has it already one. I didn't do anything!!!! Do I smell a Myth Buster here?
As many of you know the connectors in the back of a MFD "G" do not use a quadlock and the wiring is different than a MFD2. After pulling out what seemed yards of wire I found that the previous owner used a quadlock adapter to convert to the MFD "G" wiring. Thus, once I removed the adapter I just plugged in the quadlock to the back of the Navi, hooked up the two antennae, and I was all set to go.
Nothing was done as far as telling the ECU that I had a Tuareg Navi. Do I smell another Myth Buster?
Now all I have to do is fabricate a new faceplate so that the Navi is not sticking out of the dash. I'll post some pics soon if anyone is interested.

I'm still hoping that I can get a custom CNC faceplate from Suny Morrisville this Spring.

It gets even better. I may have someone making me a custom CNC face plate for the center console at Suny Morrisville. So it will almost look OEM.
