AFAIK only Autozone carries it. Has anyone seen it at another place in town? Do all the Autozones in town have it. I need to do an OC this weekend and have to get more oil.

Autozone . . . . btw, VW no longer lists this oil on their 502 list. My understanding is that the only approved viscosities are 5w40, 0w40 & 5w30. Also, the 0w30 is a crummy 0 weight and doesn't really offer any benefits in cold pumping over a 5w synthetic, unless you're talking about -0F temps.

A previous OCI of mine showed high iron wear using the 0w30, whereas my latest using 5w40, showed approximately half the iron wear. I would probably stick to 5w40 castrol or 0w40 M1 offerings at Autozone. There's also a new fully synthetic valvoline 5w30 maxlife that has 502.00 ratings as well. I am now using 5w40 amsoil.

Dave,

Interesting. I know that Burdicks uses Valvoline. But then, when have dealers ever followed VW's specs either?

At least the 0W40 M1 is available everywhere.

Thanks, Tom

What I meant was in the VW service waiting area they have a kiosk of Valvoline synthetic oil. I just assumed they were also putting it in their cars but maybe not.

Dave,

How much do you pay per quart for the AMSOIL? Advanced Auto is charging $5.98/quart for 0W40 M1.

It comes out to be around $6.60 with ship and tax and dealer discount.
