I was talking with Pete and Jake about this tonight on how much power his car could be making with the C2 software. I mentioned seeing one person dyno around 260whp with a larger turbo, and I just found another one running the kinetic turbo kit with intercooler and C2 software. They say it put down 290whp and 310wtq @ 16psi which is very impressive for software. Just thought I would mention after talking about it, here is a link http://www.dovforums.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=667&page=1#Item_0

yeah, Jakes car is pretty quick... I used to take him in the VR wagon... not anymore

I'm not sure if I want my 2.0L turbo making those kind of numbers... we'll see

My impression of a ABA Turbo making those #'s:

WWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeee....... KABAM!!

Maybe the bottom can take it, but I'm never going to find out.

hopefully it lasts till we have a dyno day, cause I'd really like to see what my old setup is capable of.

As far as I know all he needs is an inline fuel pump and he should be able to run 20+psi and close to 300 horse.

All from a little old 2L 8V http://www.cleaned.be/forum/html/emoticons/wub.gif

Now I want to drop one of our ABA's in one of my mkIIs and throw my td05 on there. Why do you guys put these ideas in my head?

I wouldn't worry too much about the motor, the tranny on the other hand is a different story as that would probably last about 2 seconds:laugh:

going fast is contagious :icon_twisted:

and unfortunately expensive :icon_shake: :P

I think that 290whp @16psi is not really possible on a ABA with the 50 trim. I think its achieveable for sure but not at that low boost. It just doesn't compute.. The engine will take it no problem though, on a good tune.

Any idea where the T3 s60 goes out of efficiency?

Not without looking at the map. I can't remember off hand.

you can actually make sense of those???

Now that you mention it Ryan, that is a bit odd. The other one I mentioned that made 260whp was at 17psi and used a 57 trim so who knows. They didn't post a dyno so it probably isn't true, but high 200's is possible easily now with the software available.

Pete, I think the T3 runs out of steam around 20psi where you will see it start to drop off as it goes out of the efficiency range. It just doesn't flow enough, when you look at a T4 compressor flowing high 40's to low 50lbs/min and a T3 in the 30lb/min range.

From what I know, not sure if it is right or not but the max efficiency for the turbo is in the center smaller ring on the map. As you go farther out on the map, the turbo can run to there but with more pressure in return on the turbo to maintane that boost level so you are leaving the efficiency range. If you look at the map for a larger turbo, you will see that the smaller ring area covers a higher flow but with less pressure in return, therefore at the same psi as a smaller turbo it will flow more air and make more power. But it will also run out of its efficiency range just like a smaller turbo, only at a higher boost level. Again, I am not sure if I have the right idea on this but it makes more sense to me that way.

That chart confuses me!

Interesting stuff though. Is the crappy flow of the 8v head the only thing holding it back from extreme power?

Yeah the 8v does suck flow wise, but there is one person that I know of that made over 400whp with an 8v so there really aren't any limitations if you want to push the issue. I wouldn't expect much more power than that though, with head work and a cam you are probably reaching the max potential.

Pretty much, but at the time you can pump out 300whp on a stock one.

Pete, I'll do that up for you later. Its just a bunch of formulas.
