I've decided to buy some Conti snow tires and wondered if you all think I can find agood deal in town or should I just buy them online?

Don at VW parts matched the Tire Rack shipped price for my steelies and snows. Downside is you have to pay tax.

Generally, TireRack dealers extend the online price to their customers but get you for mounting and balancing. Try here... http://www.tirerack.com/installer/index.jsp

I forgot to mention that my package was mounted and balanced as well.

I didn't pay much more than online for my Nokians from Big4Tire, but they don't have the best reputation for customer service. If ya can't find a deal, lots of people get tires online and have them mounted at BJs as they have the best price in town.

Vinnie, where is Don at VW parts?
One more question. I have a choice of buying 215/55/HR16s 93H or 97H. The 97Hs are $6 less for each tire at Tirerack. Any reason not to get them? Both tires are the same weight. Just that the 97Hs will be a little stiffer.
TIA,
Tom

Go for the 97. Remember that the W8 requires a high load rating for all the extra weight.

That's exactly what I was thinking. While Tirerack says the 93H is OK I usually carry more stuff in the car in the winter so a higher load rating makes sense.
Thanks!!

I spoke with Don and he seems like a very nice guy. However, he would only match Tirerack's prices. So when you add tax and driving to Syracuse and back I'm ahead ~$50 if I go online.
Thanks for the suggestion Vinny.
Dave, I went with the 97Hs. Good suggestion.
