OK, I am going to paint my truck Tan, low gloss or flat. I put tan on the title application, so now I have to.
What is the best way to do it? Where do you get this paint? By best I mean cheap but still decent.
It is an old truck so I'm not super concerned about the finish, I just want it to hold up and look better that multi shade red. I would really rather not rattle can it, it coats too thin and it will take a million cans. I know some of you have experience with this so what is your take?

you can have adam spray it tan, then use a flattener in the clear and it till make it flat, shouldnt be to expensive

thats what josh did on his car, the tan is a mercades color

we are using flatener in the clear and it will be a full out flat paint job !!

How about roll/brush on tintable bedliner? The actual kits aren't too expensive, and now they have ones that are one part ready to use.

I was reading something about a marine paint that was brushed/rolled on and turned out pretty amazing (of course prep time is key)

I can't remember the link though, unless that's what Brent already posted...

ryan here is what the guy from my work did to his jeep it came out sick..... I would highly recommend it!!! maybe you can use diff materials to come up with the same thing and lower the cost.

i will try to get ya pics

I removed all the marker lights, bumpers, whatever it took to make painting easier, then sanded all the painted surfaces to rough it up some.Use those 3m or scotchbrite type sanding pads. I bought 2 gallons of Durabak bedliner material off of their website, about 100$ a gallon. You order rough or semi-smooth. Lots o’ colors. I coated the under-carraige with 2 gallons of POR-15 from their website, 100$ a gallon. I did sandblast off the rust first. I then bought 3 colors of camo spray paint from advance auto, 5$ a can , you can find the same stuff at Walmart for 1$ less each can, and they have dark brown also. The whole process took me about 3-4 days. Lots of beer, and a friend to help. Some Hank Jr. and some System of a Down CD’s too.
