OK, my truck has a REALLY crappy stereo. It seems like it has only one speaker and the head unit..is from 1986. I would like to use my Sirius unit in the truck without a head unit.

Can I just use a audio out cable on the Sirius (sportster) to an amp and delete the head unit altogether?
If this is possible I need some recommendations on a cheap amp and some speakers. 4" fronts and 6.5" rears. I am not a big audio guy but I want it to sound decent.

does the sirius unit have a volume control?

Yes it does. Its digital volume control, I'm not sure how well it works...

You got me thinking now.. I wouldn't have any balance/fade/bass/treble, adjustments.
Maybe I'll get a new head unit and scrap the amp.
