that thing is hideous, right along with what they designed it after, which clearly looks like the Mercedes SUV, im not sure the exact model.

In my honest opinion, I think that they (meaning the auto makers I don't care who) need to make a turbo diesel light duty rugged built truck, a reliable 4x4 that gets good mpg, can handle abuse and is cheap and easy to maintain. I think if you made it basic enough, the buy in price could be in the teens (I could be wrong, I grossly underestimated the cost of house parts....) Anyway it could be a stripped down model with few amenity's. All it (or I) would really would need is 1) cruise 2) ac. Crank windows are fine, would be trouble free. Make it manual, not auto, and give basic options.

could be a good thing

agree 100%

When we were shopping in early 04 for a all around vehicle the Liberty was the only thing in its price range that had the things we required (under 25k, 4x4, tow at least 5k, 4 doors). Ideally if there had been one we'd have gotten a diesel Mid-Range pickup.

I think Jeep's Gladiator mid size pickup concept with the CRD would be perfect
