I want to wax my windshield as I have heard it makes the rain sensing wipers work better. What should I use? Rainx or just car wax?

I'd just go with rain-x. there was some strange windshield specific wax that I heard of a long time ago, but I don't know who made it/where you could get it.

Vin waxs his compelete car (windows and all) with reqular car wax. Typically why you never see him using his wipers.
That said Rain-X owns all - best stuff on earth.

that's because he doesn't drive in the rain :)

Haha, true except for the TDIs case, like Stu said. I just use the same wax and spray wax I use on the rest of the car. Ive never used Rain-X so I cant judge it.
Hey Tom.. what was the name of that glass cleaner I tried when I did your old Passat?

I have a small stash of Aquapel.... have been using it on my Passat and GTI. It does work quite well, but when worn down things can get pretty streaky (have good wiper blades helps though). On the Passat, one application in the fall will not quite make it fully through a winter. Thing is, you need to apply it in over 40 degrees weather... kind of hard to put this stuff on in the middle of the winter unless you have a garage! A applicator that will do one big windshield or a couple of small side windows is about $5. I'm pretty sure I have enough extra applicators to do a couple of windshields if folks are interested. You can always buy a kit from the Tire Rack... they sell it... it is very easy to apply yourself.
One last note about Aquapel..... the window needs to be clean when you put it on. If you have a hint of wax or Rain-x on the window, it will not like to adhere to the class.... so you may need to use some solvent of some kind on the window before application if you have wax or rain-x residue on the window.

Vinne, It was "One Grand Glass Cleaner". I used to have a good clear plastic cleaner but it's lost in my garage somewhere.
