..is in the shop again with misfires in another cylinder. 8k on the car and it's second time in for misfires.

Worst part is I brought in in Thursday they said I was low on oil! Topped it off, cleared the code, charged me $39 and sent me on my way. 2 miles down the road CEL on again.

I feel like an ass for having low oil, but the thing used 2 quarts in 3k!! From browsing the legacygt forums that is normal. If I go back there and they say low oil is causing misfires I'm gonna scream at them!

thats a bummer....... I cant believe they use that much oil in 3k miles...that is not normal, how are you not sending an o2 cell burning that much oil? and if it is burning that much oil then thats prob where your misfires are coming from as the crap builds up on the plugs....... did you pull a plug youself to see what it looked like?

That sucks, they should already know what the problem is if they have ever dealt with it before. I know my GTI has used some oil since I bought it which surprised me. I would hate to check the plugs on that motor though, good luck if you want to do that Ryan.

yea I'm not going to check the plugs yet, I can't as the car is at the dealer. Not a bad idea though. If have some free time before the snow is here I should take a look at them. I should not have to do a thing to this car except make sure the fluid levels are right and drive it. I just know I'm going to get some made up reason from the dealer why things are happening.

Dealer already told me that synthetic oil will void my warranty. Idiots! I so hope they try to push that one on me like I'm a dumbass. I'll have the service manual with me and the diagnostic procedure they are supposed to be following ready to go. :-)

Ummm... I had a problem like this on one of my cars before, no evidence of leaking, no smoke out of the exhaust (good valves and seels), but I finally found the problem. There was a tiny pin hole in the oil filter that allowed the oil to leak out with out being noticed, because when it dripped out and the car was parked, it dripped on a spot of the engine I couldn't see and the small amount of oil burned off when driving and I never saw the burning oil. Just something to think about.

Picked her up this morning.. actually running better than when new (weird!!) . Lets hope this is the end of the problems. If she has to go in again soon I'm going to have to start looking into the lemon law which will suck because even if it did go through Subaru doesn't make Legacy GT wagons in manual anymore. Grrrrr
